I think the statement on the poster that the jaw will "almost always break" from a lip grip hold is a little bit exaggerated, but I agree it's better on the fish to support their weight rather than holding them by the jaw only.

Brian, I agree (a stretch), again: on a Lonestar Lunker (10-pounds plus) that may be more the case.

Then too, added precaution and awareness, can't hurt.

I have seen some guys wag a bass around by the jaw like it was a handle. I can see where that might cause some jaw damage if they have some weight on them.

I hold 'em like this, it also helps with the pic if you hold it away from you a little, this bass only weighed about a pound :grin:
