Looking to do a little duck hunting by the river this year. I own some land that butts up against TVA land on the river. I've never hunted the river befor and am looking for some strategies. Also how is the duck hunting on the perry County side of the river?
 
Where in Mid Tn are you?

My deer camp is in Reagan, Tn just up 100 from Decaturville there and I used to duck hunt alot up there mostly around where that refuge is now on the east side of the Beech River Pump Station lake there at the camp ground. Cotton Ivey used to have a place back in there not sure if he does now or not. It is not what it used to be but if it is close I'd go for it.

We used to scout all them creeks and rivers and drainages from Cuba Landing down to Gumdale even to where WhiteOak Creek runs in there south of Saltillo, my grandparents had a cabin there on the point for a few years, and hunt where ever the ducks were at. As long as you stay in your boat and set up along the river or creek you are legal. Lot of canada geese is some area's down there.

If times get hard go shoot them ducks at Michaels Marina:D
 
My land is about 3 miles south of Hwy 412 off of Cedar Creek Rd. There are alot of ponds that come off the river near by. I also saw alot of old blinds set up so I figured there has got to be a few ducks.
 
I know where that is.

I have put in there at Beech River and run across to Cedar creek to hunt some too.

There are old duck blinds all over the place down there.

You got anyway to plant some crops and pump water into them there off the river? That'd be a little private honey hole I bet.
 
Ive got some relatives that live in Linden off 412 i believe and i can't remeber which creek it is but i went out with them back during the Camden Drawing last year and helped brush they had several old blinds back in these little channels or creeks if you wanna call them an i no a couple of weekends they done well killing in the double digits each day.Shoot wish i lived down there i would be hunting the river.

My house is in Springhill so I mainly only go out there on the weekends or holidays. We just bought the place about a year ago and have been doing alot work for the deer. I havent had much time to look for a duck hunting spot. Hopefully I will get a nice buck early and just duck hunt the rest of the season. I know they have the Tennessee wildlife refuge area a few miles up the river, so i figure there has to be a few ducks.
