Pyrodex loose or pellet works, but don't much care for the triple seven. You shooting an encore huh. They pretty good guns but I ain't never seen a muzzleloader that is as picky about what it will shoot as an encore and that is why I sold mine years ago. Not seen many of the pro hunters shot but the 20 or so Encores I've seen shot thru the years are picky. Some like loose powder some like pellets some like different brands of powder and finding the load and bullet it likes can be frustrating. If you one of the guys that want to shoot 200+ yards I would start now experimenting and maybe you will get it right the first time. But this is just from my experience and I also quit shooting in lines and only us side locks so been out of the game a little while.

My 45 encore shot well with pyrodex pellets, 777 pellets, but switched to Blackhorn when it hit the market and like it the best. I started shooting powerbelts which were accurate but lacked a little in performance. Been shooting the barnes bullets the last couple year and like them best for performance. Always been able to shoot 200 yards with the combinations I was shooting, but then again mine is a 45. Like any gun, each time I switched to another powder or bullet weight or brand it took a few adjustments to get it back to where I wanted it. While Pyrodex works, just not a fan of it compared to Blackhorn and the benefits of shooting it compared to 777 or pyrodex.

i am currently shooting 250 grain shockwaves it loves them idk about the powder though and blackhorn 209 is a little more money but if it has better performance who can complain
