A guy I hunt with has one and he loves it. He's had it for several years and finally took a deer with it this past season. It's a 45-70 with I believe a 14 inch barrel and a brake. I've shot it at the range a few times and it shoots lights out. I will say, the long eye relief on the pistol scope is something that took some getting used to.
I love mine. I have the choate folding stock on it.

I have the tc dimension in 30-06. I love it, super light and never had any issues with it.

I have one but I haven't killed any deer with it yet I have managed to get a couple of coyotes with it
They are painfully loud expecially in the rifle calibers but they are fun to shoot

I have one with a few diff barrels, I have killed deer with both the 44 mag and the 223. The 223 is a great varmint barrel.

Ive got an early model and 4 barrels. 22, 223, 22 Hornet and 44. Ive set up the 44 to deer hunt with 1.5x pistol scope. Haven't had it in the woods yet. My 223 barrel is the 14" with LER scope. Blast to shoot at the range. The one I use the most is the 22 10" barrel. I have that set up with 6-24x44 OA scope to shoot silhoutte with. Scope is longer than the gun. They are very addictive so if you get one be prepared

I have one with several different calibers. I have killed one deer, one yote and several squirrels. They are really fun to shoot. I also have the choate folding stock and a 16 inch 35 Remington barrel. Makes a handy little deer round. You can also get carbine barrels and a stock and make a great little single shot. If you are not real familiar with them you will find out that there have been all kind of different calibers made for them.

I got one in 221fireball in a 10'' and 23'' had one in a 10'' 44mag kill two deer with it, swap it for a 7-30 waters and love it not kill a deer with it yet it will be good out to 200yds. ammo is hard to find recoil not as bad as the 44mag.

I'm not sure what calibers are offered anymore. 7x30 waters 45-70 32 H@R Magnumn were just a few of my favorites back in the day. We set my son up with a custom .300 whisper barrel when the cartridge first came out. I just talked to him the other day to see if he had this barrel and he said yes and since .300 whisper has been discontinued by most all manufacturers he's thinking about getting a set of dies for it or having it reamed out to .300 blackout.

Are these numbers all from a 24" barrel? Most of the Ballistic data out there for 30/30 is usually based off the 24" and most .300 BO is usually on 16"

Is your son's conteder barrel 24"?
Standard rifle barrels for contender are 21" tapered or 23" bull
The 300 BLK will gain some velocities/energies from AmmoGuide's findings but it won't match a 30-30.
Case capacities are important as to ballistic outcome 25 vs. 44 is a big difference.
The 300 BLK IS deadly, don't get me wrong! Surgical accuracy will still be recommended

His is 16 inches. When we built his .300 whisper he was like 8 years old. We were going for minimal recoil, minimal weight and maximum knock down.
I cut down the stock to 11.5 inches bringing the overall length down to the legal length of 26 inches . It's a well balanced little thing. Put two weaver bases on top.of it for a rail. And put a Trijicon reflex scope on it. That way he did not have to worry about scope eye or learning about eye relief.
Corbon made ammo for it at the time. I think it was 125 grain loads??? I can't remember. He never killed a deer with it. A couple of seasons later he was old enough to own a .308 and we moved over that scope to a bolt gun and he killed a big ole doe with it. I think he has a conventional scope on the Contender today and of course he got a adult length stock for it. I could not tell you all what barrels he kept for it. I know I gave him that one 44 mag 223 7x30 waters and 22Lr

7x30 Waters is a awesome cartridges. Works great in both pistol form and rifle form in a Contender. I had both at one point and time. Since I had better rifles i didn't keep the rifle for very long. But I could sure get some heck of some loads out of the 24 inch barrel I had .
In a pistol it was brutal to shoot. Can't say I ever killed anything with it. I had more fun with the 44 mag.

Whitetail are thin skinned.
With proper shot placement they reliably become venison.
In a handgun format the contender, with practice, can be as accurate as a rifle.

My 14" bull bbl in 7x30 isnt bad at all to shoot! Plus its as accurate as most any rifle I own!
I think I have 7x30 barrel somewhere in safe, haven't seen it in years

Not to mention it opens doors to wildcat cartridge exploration
