I have always bought a bunch of guns and rarely sold anything. Here lately I have gotten into the semi custom bolt gun frame of mind and have become unhappy with factory guns. I literally have so many guns that I forget what all I have. I was bad about just buying a gun to buy one when I was younger. I'm thinking of thinning the herd and then just buying what I want. I can't explain the feeling but it is a definite change of heart. Somebody talk me out of selling my guns!

I know the feeling sorta. I've thinned mine down to the ones I really like for some reason or another. Had some that I never shot or just didn't appeal to me anymore.

I have 4 ar, an sks, like 8 12ga shotguns. I can't sell a few shotguns due to promises or sentimental reasons but one good shotgun would do me for no more than I use them. I could thin down to 2 ar and 0 sks. I have 5 22 rifles and only use 3. I have pistols I haven't shot in years. I just can't make up my mind. I was always a buyer and not a seller. This is hard. Decisions decisions

no way i would sell my guns ...if you had the money to buy these guns they will bring you more money than you could get for your money at a bank...so i look at all of mine as a investment...just buy you a high end rifle if that's what you want...

Here is something to think about. Thru my adult life I have been just like you BUT I have let a few go thru the years. And when I think about it it almost makes me cry. Don't get rid of them, do you have Children or Grandchildren that you can pass them down to. I have thought about the same thing you are considering, but I know I will be sorry in the long run.

Been thinning the herd here myself by letting go of quite a few here lately.none had any sentimental value to me and was glad to pass on to someone who would appreciate. Plus I now have money to buy what I actually want and will use.

Sell them, lots of opinions possibly from those who have not traveled to the dark side. Once you own custom parts, actions, barrels, stocks, etc you do not get excited about what the factories put out. I had a collection of factory guns, and ran across someone at our public range had a Jarrett 280 AI with german SB optic. I left the range a different person. I sold off all those and started out checking on gunsmiths, and parts. My first build was in the late 1980`s, Jim Borden chambered and trued me several Remington 700`s. Small groups suddenly became much easier, and much more consistent. It has come full circle, I now own a lathe and do my own chambering. Bought it in 2011. You won`t be sorry.

Its ok to sell them as long as you reinvest it back into your gun collection.

Mine is thru my home owners policy ...i also have just the 2500 dollars thru the NRA but remember you have to activate this to be able to get the 2500, you can buy others or more ins. thru the NRA but it's not that good and way over price...you should be able to go thru your home owner policy for around a 100.00 year...good to have a safe also..

I agree with what your saying , but still those factory guns will keep value just as good as that custom rifle..it's like customizing a motor cycle , someone may like the way it's done and the next person doesn't care for it..same way with your custom rifle, some will like it and some want..lot harder to trade custom rifles...custom rifle are like each his own....this is not saying custom rifles are not great guns or good shooters...it's just in the eye of the beholder ....

I recently sold a really nice 243 to help finance a 6.5 Creedmoor. I've had a lot of fun messing around with that new gun. Someday I may get another 243, but they are easy to find.

The original Springfield 45-70 Trapdoor I sold when my second child was born, not so easy to replace. :-(

I have pulled 8 out that I'm leaning towards letting go. They haven't been shot in years. My kids already have guns and what I will have left will be a much better inheritance and hopefully more cherished.

Maybe clean up you long guns, but hold on to any handguns. No matter the quality, make, or caliber handguns are extremely liquid in a pinch. If you have some untraceable ones, that is even better.

The only 2 pistols I had for sale sold almost immediately. Don't worry though, there are still plenty more in the safe. Lol

Man I wish I had never sold any I had but with that said I'm glad I got the money from them to buy other weapons just like I want them and use them all the time. So I guess there is no wrong answers.
