T/C MAXI HUNTER ?

I was just wandering if you just shoot these bullets like they are or do they need some kind of wadding. I have a cva optima and am going to change from powerbelts to something else. A good buck almost got away from me last year using powerbelts.No exit hole and bullet just broke up all in the deer. So any advice on the maxi hunters would be appreciated. THANKS

i had nothing but less-than-desirable results with the maxi-hunters. it would be a step backwards from the powerbelts imo.

I don't shoot the maxi hunter but do shoot the maxi ball in my New Englander and Grayhawk. They do shoot good but obviously you won't get the distance.

I shot the Maxi Hunters in my T/C Renegade. They performed pretty good but not as good as the power belts i replaced them with. I currently shoot a T/C Omega in .45 Cal. and use power belt 175 gr. with 150 gr. of Hodgdon 777. Most of the time the deer drop in sight and the ones that don't do not go far.

I used Maxi-hunters and Maxi-balls in my Hawken before switching over to in-lines. I fixed up a Renegade last year and plan on trying Powerbelts in it. $20 for 20 Maxi-hunters is getting ridiculous.

We've used them for several decades. My dad still has the jig and smelter from when we made our own. We haven't used our Renegades since the 90's and us sabots in our in-line's. Just butter them up and insert Keep the butter off the bottom.
