Looking at picking up a encore with factory t/c 308 barrel and a aftermarket 223 barrel, I like the idea of them but not sure if I'd actually use it. What are yalls thoughts on them ? Cons vs pros

Some people swear by them but I have never seen the attraction. I can see it as a muzzleloader but they are pretty expensive for being single shot rifles.

My buddy had one with an aftermarket Bergara barrel and it was a shooter for sure.

I love them.
Had several barrels at one time but kinda got away from them and ended up with two frames, a muzzleloader barrel and a .308 barrel.

By the time you figure in the price of the barrel and a scope they are indeed pricey for a single shot rifle. With a little practice you can reload them VERY quickly though.
Heavy barrel versions require a different forearm as well.
They are (all of mine anyway) VERY accurate!!!!!!
They are a joy to hunt with because they are very light weight.
When you carry it with a sling across your chest the lever that you pull to break it open will dig directly into your spine when you walk.
Cocking it with a scope mounted can be a pain in the butt.
Hammer extensions that EXTEND TO ONLY ONE SIDE OF THE HAMMER WILL cause misfires. Something about the weight being all on one side or something but trust me on this one.

That's my 2 cents worth anyway. :D

The biggest advantage to an Encore is that you can make it any caliber you want. As far as being a single shot there is an old saying. One shot probably a dead deer, two shots maybe a dead deer, three shots no deer. Whole lot of truth to that. I just don't consider An Encore to be a handicap because it is a single shot. Ive killed a bunch of deer with an Encore. Love an Encore.
