Surface drive mud motor ?

I put this in the general forum too but thought I would try here too.

Dunno if anyone actually has one or not, but I have a question.

How far does the motor / prop extend below the actual bottom of the boat?

Fixing to build a couple of them and that is the only thing I am not real sure about.

had 35 mudbuddy w/electric trim when on plane it ran best with half of prop in water.
