Food Plots Sunflowers too thick

Since I don't have a planter, I sowed about 3 acres of sunflowers and it just seems to me that they came up too thick. Any ideas, suggestions on how to thin them out?
I have a tractor and some common equipment that I could use, but I haven't come up with a way to use anything I already have.
My initial thoughts were to find someone with an old cultivator in the fence row and run that thru them, but thought I would ask for other ideas if someone has already had the same problem.

I also have a couple of garden hoes if anyone has any extra time and knows how to "chop" sunflowers :lol:

How many pounds per acre did you plant?

Regardless, I would let the birds, turkeys, deer and other critters do that dirty work for you. They are good at wiping out quite a few newly-sprouted stems

A few turkey scratched around in it right after I planted it, but they have left already to wherever they go for the summer and winter. I haven't seen any in a couple of weeks.
Because of CWD or something, I have very few deer around anymore.
3 years ago, I wouldn't have had any left after the turkey and deer mowed them down. Now I am afraid they will not have any effect on them.

How tall are they? If not extremely tall ride an ATV through them. This will mash many of them down and just leave some thicker rows. The cultivator will work also.

I briefly thought about this, but my only mower is 50' wide. I wonder if I can remove the center blade and have only the two outside blades cutting?

This would provide about a 16" row for them to fill in. This may work if taking the center blade off won't effect the mower.

Just drive through them with your ATV with a fertilizer spreader spinning on the back. You will knock some down and the rest will take off and grow!
