Burn Down - - around March 28 - - 32 ounces gly-4 and 8 ounces of generic "dicamba. mix in 10 gallons of water sprayed over 1 acre

Field prep - - around April 18 - - -24 ounces of "Treflan" per 10 gallons water - - Treflan has to be incorporated into the soil or sunshine will evaporate the
herbicide. I spray the Treflan out the front of my "scratcher Do All" and cover the Treflan as I am lightly tearing up the field. I only work up
about the top 2 inches of soil.

Planting - - - any time around May 1. I don't plant if rain is in the forecast within 24 hours
Peredovik(sp) seed. I plant a seed every 6 to 7 inches. my rows are 38 inches wide.
as I am planting I am spraying out the back of the planter 7 ounces of Zidua - - - 24 ounces generic Duel - - - 2 ounces of insecticide - - - 42 ounces of Gramaxone

Late summer Burn Down - - - about 105 days from planting when plants are mature
I burn down with 32 ounces gly-4 and 0.75 ounces of generic Cimmaron

Bush Hog fields - - - I will bush hog one pass(10 foot wide Bush Hog) around perimeter of field and one pass through the approximate center of field.
if your fields are clean it does not take very much bush hogging. If everyone in our main group had a Retriever then I would skip the
Bush Hogging in middle of fields, this strip is only for reference for non dog owners to locate down doves more easily.

Does treflan work well for pigweed? Why zidua instead of spartan? Zidua is not cheap. Looking for something better for pigweed. Last year used dual, prowl, and authority and pigweed still took over.

treflan will get an early start on pigweed, and all other grasses/weeds. I have one field that does not get the Treflan and the grasses/weeds are almost out of control in this one particular field

Spartan from my past experience breaks down somewhere around the 45 day mark due to the sunshine, Zidua does not break down after 90 days
according to field tests done by Kansas State University

the 7 ounces of Zidua kept our 5 fields(30 acres +/-) basically pigweed free last year. our fields in 2017 were highly infested with pigweed, 2018 clean.

the 7 ounces of Zidua will cost $50.00 +/- per acre which is extremely high

we are also going to apply 24 ounces of generic duel(Medal) to our fields at planting, due to some grass problems last year the Zidua did not work on

only two herbicides uses on this field in 2018 were Treflan(incorporated into the top 2 inches of soil) and Zidua applied out the back of planter while planting

Your flowers look great. The only weeds we have problems with is pigweed. Seems to be getting worst every year. Want to try something different this year. Havent tried treflan or zidua.

Treflan has to be incorporated into the top couple inches of soil, if not incorporated it will evaporate.

The Zidua is by far the best herbicide that I have used in fighting Pigweed, this stuff is horrible in Haywood County

Do you do a burn down late summer when sunflowers have matured. We do and it helps a ton towards the next growing season

No I do not burn down in late summer. My problem with the treflan is time. We have river ground and usually by the time the spring floods go down I'm rushing to get the field burned down and planted. Some years I'm unable to plant due to late flooding. Right now our ground is five feet under water.

About 60 days after planting date you should see a few starting to bloom, about 7 to 10 days later most will be close to full bloom.

Weather can change this a little, dry summer faster, wet summer a little slower.

This is with Peredovik seed.
