Im looking to buy a new climbing stand, I have narrowed down my choiced between the Summit Viper SD and the Summit Goliath. Im looking for some input on those 2 stands. Can anyone shed some light on either of them?

I dont remember if its the Titan or Goliath that I first bought and then returned for a Viper SD last year. It wasnt about the extra pounds to carry, but when I put on the stand (Titan/Goliath) like a backpack, it was hard to walk around as the huge stand was hitting my legs below the knee from behind. I am 5' 8". May be if I was 6 feet tall, wouldnt have been a problem.

I'm 6' 2" and 195lbs. I love my Viper SD. Super comfortable, easy to carry, and my pack fits inside the frame perfect when walking in. After I get to the tree I can usually be setup waiting for some action within 15-20 minutes.

I went with the Goliath. It gives you a little extra room for insulated clothing. I bought a Goliath and most of my friends wish they had as well. But they are all skinny.

goliath. more room, more flexibility to get turned, overall a better choice. Share pictures of a bomber this fall!
Personally I don't like summit stands. Something about the cable they use is just annoying to me. I like API stands overall.

I have an older Viper and a Goliath. I know this sounds weird but regular Viper has plenty of room but you will need to rest your elbows on or outside the rails but there is plenty of room for your rear if you weigh near what I do(250). I use the Viper in early season with the bow because I feel a lot more secure leaning on the front bar for a shot with the bow than on the Goliath. I know it's only an extra 2 inches but it feels like I am so much farther out there than on the Viper. Later in the season I use the Goliath because I if I have heavy coat on I can get in my pockets sitting down.
There is a third option. Titan. If I could do it over again I would get a Titan over the Goliath. Can't say it would be better but it's even bigger than the Goliath.

Summit Viper SD (20 lbs & holds up to 300 lbs.)
Under 6'0" / 200 lbs.
Summit Viper Classic (29 lbs & Holds up to 300 lbs)
Under 6'0"/200 lbs.
Summit Goliath SD (21 lbs & holds up to 350 lbs.)
6'0" to 6'2" /200 lbs. - 225 lbs.
Summit Titan SD (25 lbs. & holds up to 350 lbs.)
6'3" & up / 225 lbs. & up
Summit 180 Max SD (24 lbs. & holds up to 350 lbs.)
Same as Titan.
I have used all these treestands and use the chart above when fitting a customer into a stand. I hope this helps as a guide.
