Kind of in the mood for a semi auto shotgun for turkey hunting. Probably going to check out the Rem 1187 and Winchester Super x3. May try to find a used X2 or X3 as they are kind of pricey. Definitely don't want a Stoeger. I had an m3500 and it was more of a single shot than a semi auto.

Any other suggestions on a good semi auto?

X2, if I was looking for a dedicated turkey gun. If it was a more than one season gun, then I'd still look at the SX3 with a 26" barrel and a straight stock. I have not shot one, but I do hear a lot of positive stuff and have seen some great patterns out of the Versa Max.
 
I'm going the opposite direction right now from a semi back to a pump. My 11-87, which has been my go to gun for a lot of years, broke a little plastic piece that has something to do with the bolt/recoil spring or something that makes it eject. While I am waiting on the part to get here and the gun to be put back together, I started carrying a 870 backup gun. I had Sumtoy Custom Chokes cut down and rethread a barrel on it a couple of years ago. I put one of the Dead Ringer fiber optic sights on it.

I have been impressed with how good that sight looks in the field, and have used it to kill two birds with no issues. But, the thing I am loving is just how much lighter it is to carry that 870 than the scoped 11-87. On some of the long walks I've been on this spring, it has definately helped.

Out of all of the birds I've killed, I can think of only one time when I needed a second shot. And, after years of twice a year qualifications with a pump, I can cycle one of those quick enough to take care of any second shots needed. I suspect the 11-87 will go back to the safe as a backup until I miss killing a bird that I think the semi would have gotten for me.
 
I was a pump guy for ever, and two years ago bought a SBE2 and even though it's fine, I miss my pump. Imo it's a better option for turkeys. I suspect in the next few years I'll go back to a pump, it's just better in a lot of aspects

I will NEVER EVER go back to a pump. I have pretty moved to the M2 20 gauge most of the season though

Have you had any jamming issues with your Super Mag? I took mine duck hunting this year and had a shell jam so bad I had to field strip in the marsh to get the shell out. Cleaned it real good and replaced the spring and follower with a Sure Cycle. Have yet to fire it since I replaced the spring. Never had any issues with my 3" 1187's.
 
You want to KNOW you can get 3 shots off? Carry a pump. I have autos and pumps and my 870 has always worked like a charm in the field. Only once have I fired more than 1 shot and that was at a bird I'd knocked down and he got up and ran...with me running right behind him. The third shot rolled him just as he was clearing the field.

I like my bps 10, I like my mossy 5500 auto, I like my 935 auto, and I like my sbe2. It doesn't make me any difference.

And for what its worth I can make a 20 gauge deadly farther than we should be shooting. Trendy or not if you handload you can kill gobblers about as far as you want.

Heck I've seen 45 yard capable 410's

Just IMAGINE how much lighter it would be if it were a 20 gauge, and even the difference in weight of the shells took off another pound. :tu:
