Tried some suburban deer hunting this weekend. Have a relative that lives near a fancy golf course/club with a big deer problem. The deer have cleaned out flower beds and shrubs in her neighborhood.
Set my stand up Saturday in the backyard on the edge of a powerline cut. At dawn 5 deer came through the cut and into the yard. Downed one young doe, while the rest ran. A few minutes later all 4 are back, then another comes in. A few minutes later 3 more came through!
Decided to go back this morning, same thing. 4 came in while 2 more are father back in line. Took a mature doe that was so large I had to get some help to get her in the truck.
Kind of nice being parked literally 50feet from my stand.
(Only downside is that I had to take the whole deer somewhere else to field dress. Not good leaving a gut pile on freshly cut lawns.)
