those who know me know I am a soldier.
I ran across a nice rifle today.

I acquired a remington 1917 enfield.
I have been researching it and wow what a cool rifle.
I will post pix soon and I am dying to shoot it!!
It is so neat that this rifle was made in september of 1918!
 
no according to my research

when the war broke out remington was already making enfield p14's for the english. springfield could make 1000 1903's each day. by changeing just the chamber and bolt face remington could produce 2000 1917's in 30-06 a day. lkooks like 2/3 rds of g.i. in WWI carried 1917's instead of 1903. I even read that Alvin c york did his work with a 1917. Alo his rifle is at MTSU. I need to go on a field trip!!


the short answer is this rifle is a 30-06

Ive got a sporterized Winchester sitting in the gun cabinet that needs some work. Its a good solid rifle. Need to do some work on it and I imagine it will be a shooter after that.

Yep, just like Alvin C York used in WW1. Watched the movie over the weekend. I always liked the 03, P17 and Garands. I liked the Krags also.
 
Very nice. Your a soldier and I seem to remember your .45 with the 278th patch on it so I can only assume your in the 278th? And Im almost positive that was the .45 offered for this last deployment.
 
Yeah it is a solid old rifle. I see why the guys liked it. The sights are better than 1903. I am anxious to play with it.

U got one too 30-06? Of u r close to Nashville area we need to hook up.
