My first deer rifle was a remongtom 700 adl, one of the older ones that were blued, not matte. I shot the barrel out on it and recently had an ultra light contour 24" shilen barrel threaded on the action. My question, even, though I despise plastic stocks, I am going to need one for this project. I want a very thin cut, light stock that has open, thin grip. Who do yall recommend for a stock like this. Mcmillian, borden, rimrock? I know walnut, I know nothing about plastic? Please advise.

Even though its not plastic I'd recommend a H-S percision pro sporter. I put one on a build I just finished. Handles really well and has a awesome feel even with the .300WM.

McMillan Edge is the way to go. Super light and not bulky at all. The downside is a 4 month wait.

Sometimes you can find a great deal on some Classified sections of some hunting forums. That's how I found mine. It was brand new and never been to the range.
