I know alot of people say that the steel cased ammo is no good out of their AR's,and when I had my AR I didn't like to shoot it.But Im wanting to add to my collection of SHTF ammo for my M1A,and was wondering about the 308 steel cased russian ammo..The M1A is pretty hard on the brass anyway,do you think it would hurt to run steel cased ammo through an M1A? I've never heard anyone talk about it.
 
I have ran many rounds of Wolf through multiple AR's without any problems other than cleaning issues.

In a SHTF situation steel ammo is better than no ammo. I like the silver bear zinc coated also.

Wolf apparantly is coating the cases with some type of polymer now instead of lacquer.

I say fire away.
 
I don't personally want to run steel case ammo through a rifle on a regular basis, but you're talking SHTF conditions. Even then, I don't think it would hurt it to any degree, just don't want to have to deal with the cleaning issues.
 
This is good to hear..I was thinking the same thing,when and if SHTF senario does errupt/happen,I don't think it is gonna matter either,steel cased or not,anyone/anything on the reciveing end isn't going to care..Plus 7.62x51 is very expensive in brass case,but the steel isn't to bad..Its settled,its going on my Xmas list.LOL

thats what I meant,,I would rather have it than nothing,,just don`t expect the same groups the M1A1 is capable of,,I have shot a couple NM`s and 3-4 Loaded that will drive nails with good ammo,,the 2 that I have fired steel cased from both shot around 2 inches,,

one my Uncle has that shoots like a bench rifle with Fed GMM,, 2 inches with steel case
