While he was in Chattanooga at a meeting of the TN Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, TWRA Chief of Fisheries stopped by the Tennessee Aquarium to officially sign-off on the new state record largemouth. If you have been living in a cave and haven't heard, Gabe Keen caught the 15.2 lb. bass on Friday the 13th.

Go here to read what Wilson had to say about the new record, and what he says about odds of Keen's record being broken: http://bit.ly/1vPeT5Y

You can also go here to watch Wilson's entire interview, with video of Keen's catch: http://youtu.be/m1BJeExCSRA

I question one statement that Mr. Wison said about the world record being over 25lbs. I checked all over the internet and far as I could find the old record still stands . There was a supposedly 25 lb. plus caught in California a few years back but it was not recognized as the record due to questions about how it was caught and weighed so it did not count. Am I missing something where another one was caught that was a new world record?

I believe the world record was caught in Japan 2-3 years ago.

According to what I found the one in Japan was the same size as the one caught in Georgia (22.4 lbs). I copied this info from an article I found about it.

{ DANIA BEACH, Fla. USA, (January 8, 2010) --- After nearly six months of waiting, Japan's Manabu Kurita is taking his place along side Georgia, USA angler George Perry in the International Game Fish Association's (IGFA) World Record Games Fishes book as dual holders of the All-Tackle record for largemouth bass each weighing 22 lb 4 oz and caught 77 years apart.
Today the IGFA approved Kurita's application for the fish caught from Japan's largest lake on July 2, 2009. }

I'm happy for the guy but this will put a damper on our fishing. We can forget finding a parking space at all the ramps on a pretty weekend day. We're gonna be begging people to use their private ramps.
