got the 105 Scenars to 3350 but was getting sticky bolt after rifle got hot,,backed down to 3265 and starting to come together but a little more tinkering to get it down where I want it,,less than 3 inches at 600 is OK but need a little better for what I want,,it does cut wind a lot better than I am used to and is really flat,,,8.5 MOA to 600 and 20.25 to 1,000 is flatter than just about anything I have shot,,

That's a great caliber that gets a lot of dirt thrown on it, how much energy has it got at 1000y ?

Flat is the word.

That comes as something of a surprise. 243 was supposedly a sub 200 yard shooter most of its life.

Very good work Mr. B, very good.

Egads, I looked at Alliant's reload data. You are not at max load. Phew. The 300 WinMag recipes look very good for my 180 grain Noslers.

Ah yes Reloading is so much fun. Going to keep my eye out for RL26.

my Krieger bbl has a .236 bore and a minimum SAAMI chamber,,using necked down 308 Lapua brass I hit pressure way before the max load listed,,but the 27.25 inch bbl is makin 3265 fps with 45 gr using the Fed 215 GMM magnum primer,,

thinkin about a 32 inch Brux Light Palma bbl to see if it would get on up around 3350,,that my friend would be an absolute lazer,,you should see the fire coming out the Vias brake,,it is quiet impressive,,

The 243 has never been know as a sub 200y shooter, the fed 100g serria shoots over 400y with 1000lbs left, match that up to some other calibers ,then add the accuracy in the mix,

load I shot today was with the Berger Hunting VLD with a BC of .532 at 3200 fps,,,it shoots flatter and holds in wind like a 180 SMK out of a 300 Win Mag,,

Berger says 8 twist but I know some people that use 8.5,,I had a Rem VLS 6mm Rem with 9.25 that would not shoot the 105-107 bullets,,but back then I was more into speed and shot the 70 NBT mainly but used the 87 VMax some,,at that time nobody made the 95 class match bullets,,

IMO with the 9.25 twist the 95 VLD or 95 SMK is the best choice,,and with the extra speed they will be better than the 105s until you get out to 450-500 yards,,past that the 105s should be better if you have the twist to spin them,,I think the new Ruger rifle in 243 has a 7.5 twist which would shoot the 115s but even then you wouldnt see any advantage with those unless you were shooting at 800-1,000 yards all the time,,

the 95 gr 6mm bullets at 3000-3100 would smoke a 308 with 175s at 1,000 yards,, the BC is about the same with the 243 going about 400 fps faster,,

168 308 takes 41 moa to zero at 1000 and has 11 moa wind drift in 10 mph wind

95 243 takes 28 moa to zero at 1000 and has 8 moa wind drift in 10 mph wind

For years I loaded my 243 with 100 grain Partitions on top of Nosler book max IMR7828. Accuracy was very good and they killed deer without tracking. When I could not get 100 grains and slipped down to 95 I discovered RL19.

Mr. B I have been reading a lot on what you post, and must say for one that does not shoot for sport or reload you make it very inviting! I was wondering why did you not try the 243 wssm for your 243 platform?
