About to start hanging some stands on a new property in west TN. What direction does the wind usually come from during the months of Sep-Dec? I guess a better way to put it would be. What position on a field would you put your stand on to make sure the wind is keeping your scent out of that field most of the time? I know the wind directions change but what is the norm?

Sept-Dec there are two "norms," Southwest and Northwest. Southwest during a warm spell and northwest after a cold front passes through.

What BSK said is true. However, it does not matter where you put your stand or what direction you face it. The wind will be wrong every time and the deer always come from behind your right shoulder.

In most cases I'd rather have the wind blowing into the field depending on the setup. They have to get there in order to see them. If the wind's blowing back into the timber or cover they're apt to smell you before they get there for you to see them. When hunting a field I pay more attention to where the sun's coming up or going down (depending on morning hunting or evening hunting). It's hard to take shot staring straight into the sun.
