Had a good day hunting, helping a friend learn how to hunt a lil for starters by hanging a stand for him in one of my honey holes....We bumped a 2.5 yr old 8pt while picking a tree too, left there and went to check on another spot that had a poacher on it two days ago(gonna call twra tomorrow).....while driving in on the paved road I passed a small opening that I spotted a big buck bedded down in..........I drove up 200 yds...got out and put my camo on and grabbed the camera.....the stalk was on.....I got withing 30 yds.......through the brush I glassed him for a bit......he was about a 140-145" 8 pt maybe pushing 150".......I tried to get to a spot to take a pic/ video and even though the wind was right......he jumped up and took off.......towards one of my stands no doubt.....I went and climbed in it.......rattled my butt off with about 20 min of light left......here he comes.....not the giant but a less than 100" 7 point who came straight to me.....circled me......made a rub.....never caught my wind and walked off looking for some action...all on video(go pro).....I never expect a mature buck to come to rattling this time of year but it's fun and that big 8 was by himself and I thought I might get lucky.....well he didn't blow so maybe I'll see him later.....btw I have no idea where all the does are right now.....does anyone else? I also saw a broke up spike right when I got to my stand too......hoping for one more arrow to fly by years end

hey I need help learning how to hunt... ;) in all seriousness I bet that was a thrill getting that close to the buck.

Catman, do you have places to hunt in Franklin or surrounding areas? Having a place or two where there are deer is the first step. It was a thrill......I don't get buck fever much anymore unless I'm doing something like that......when he got up and ran I started to shake a lil. That's why we do it......it's a rush.

I have a couple spots around here but always wanting to find a new place for if/when I lose an old spot. I need to be doing some asking though if I'm gonna find anywhere, lol
