I know this product got brought up last year. I am on the verge of buying one but have a question or two...

I am not a 'climber' guy at all. That said is 13ft up a tree REALLY good enough?

Or, am I better off getting a ground blind and be more concealed but perhaps give up some field of view?

While I'm fortunate to have a few private pieces of land to hunt on, where I have stands already, I enjoy hitting a WMA as well and thought this would at least get me off the ground.

I would never buy that thing. I can get way higher than 13 ft with a climber or hang on with a lot less than 33 lbs to carry in.

It's easy to get distracted by a lower price like that, but I can't imagine 13' being enough. It wouldn't be horrible for rifle season, but even then, that stand would still make it easier for them to wind you.

You don't have to be 30 feet off the ground guys, some of my closest encounters were out of a 10 foot ladder stand, right now I have a 10 foot stand on a food plot that is tucked in on the center of 3 trees that I'm very well hidden in.

I agree in the right situation 13 ft is plenty high enough.

You don't have to be 30 feet off the ground guys, some of my closest encounters were out of a 10 foot ladder stand, right now I have a 10 foot stand on a food plot that is tucked in on the center of 3 trees that I'm very well hidden in.

You're right, you don't have to be 30 ft up. You also don't have to carry 33 lbs of portable ladder stand on your back to get 15 ft up. An 18 lb climber or a 20 lbs combination of a hang on stand and climbing sticks will do the trick.

It all comes down to how much weight you're willing to hump in to your site. Hunters with private land or leases who use fixed ladder stands are playing a whole different game than public land hunters who have to walk in and out with their stand every time.

Height is dependent on the area you hunt. Sometimes I'd rather be 12 feet off the ground as opposed to 25 feet.

That being said I have a question. You said you weren't a climber but you want to know if 13 feet is high enough. Do you have less risk of falling from 13 feet than 30 feet? Not knocking you but there was a recent posting on fear of climbing and I commented on mind over matter. I just don't see the difference in heights.

There are much better choices available imo! No you don't always need to be 30 ft, but many many times you need to be higher than 13 ft for sure!!!!

I have one they work great with an extra section gets you high enough
