Overall you did a good job on the finish. I like it. Not to bash but just friendly advice that would help aesthetics and be more traditionally correct. The lock panels are a little thick would be more pleasing to the eye if reduced. Check out pics of the originals, they were never this wide.

Actually I've seen many original target rifles have heavy lock panels like this. My next rifle I do plan on doing more shaping. This hawken isn't historically correct in way, but it's a great rifle overall for rendezvous and hunting.
