Spring & Summer Food Plot Help

Got a few questions on spring/summer planting.

When do you guys plant?
What do you typically plant?

What are you trying to accomplish with your plots? How much acreage are you going to plant?

Iron clay peas/sunflower/millet/sorghum ring surrounding a middle section of soybeans.

I rotate (for production) corn and beans on the big bottomground fields and maintain perennial Durana clover on the high ground in smaller plots specifically for the wild critters. I drill sorghum in little corner spots where bigber equipment can't turn and also fallow fields...it's cheap, will grow on concrete, and makes both a summer crop and some "stocked" winter chow.

We do mainly clover now. Frost seed in February. With our deer numbers we just can't do enough beans to keep them from getting mowed down

What this guy said on the beans- if you don't have at least a 3 acre field (not 3 acres total scattered across the farm) of them, you stand a pretty good chance of the deer browsing them out if you have even a decent deer density. if you have small plots, I would focus on cool-season plots instead.
