My brother lives in yankee land north central armpit of the world ohio. Caught in deep water 51* water. Is it just me or does this fish look like a huge spot. Hard to tell I wish I could have got my hands on that fish to get a better look. Kinda weird I didn't think they had spots that far north. What do yall think?

Just curious, what can yall see that makes you think LM. I really don't know unless the mouth is closed or I can feel the tounge patch. Looks like it has a smaller mouth. Not arguing just curious.

For me, the color pattern and size of its head and mouth in relation to the size of its body.

LM ... being specific about us "seeing" the difference is really hard to explain. But after you see enough of them, you just "know." But in the case the giveaway for me is the size of mouth in relation to body size... it just looks like a "bucketmouth." Spot mouth would be distinctly smaller in relation to body size, with a far more distinct color pattern..
