Split hooves

My daughter killed a spike yesterday, as I was skinning him I noticed all of his hooves were split, I think this is evidence of ehd, is the meat ok?

Yes all around the edges.

I hunt a place that is real steep and rocky with a lot of bluffs and most of the deer over there have rough split hooves. I think they split them on the rock edges.

I have heard EHD does that also.

Sounds like an EHD survivor evidenced by sloughing hooves. Don't worry, the meat is fine.
