I like to have both. A fast bow that is loud will kill deer but increases the chances of a deer loading its legs at the sound of the bow and dodging the arrow.

A quiet bow is great, but there are advantages to having the higher KE and flatter trajectory of a fast bow.

I think any bow that is relatively quiet and shoots faster than 270 fps is excellent for the whitetail woods.
 
The deer can hear it no matter how quiet you may think it is. Not saying speed is king just that all bows are plenty quiet now days.

Accurate over Quiet and Speed.

I just picked up a Mathews Prestige target bow a couple weeks ago. The Prestige is an oldie but goodie bow. Not fast. Not quiet. Not shock free. It wants to jump away from you on the shot. But it's one of those bows you could stand on your head and shoot it wrong handed and the arrow still go where you wanted them to go. Time after time after time.

The PSE Evo was very smooth to draw...and a pleasure to shoot. No handshock...QUIET bow...I am very picky about noise and that bow was quiet to me when I would shoot it and even quieter when standing by somebody else shooting it. And it was super fast too...but if you were off by just a fraction on your form or if you flinched just a hair or had the grip too deep in the hand...that bow told on you BAD.
 
I would say quiet since a quiet bow these days is plenty fast. I would rather have a quiet hunting bow vs a loud fast bow.
 
I've got them both. Like Mr. Bro, I shoot a relatively heavy arrow (Axis) out of a 60# bow. I haven't cronoed it but based on years of ASA and IBO shooting I put it right around 310.

Very quiet with the PSE string stop (biggest thing to silence IMO) and plenty fast for any deer out to 40 yards...most are inside of 25 though.
 
Last four bucks taken with my Axis 400s with 100 grain MX3s,out of my DXT 60lb.at about 270fps were complete pass throughs.
Wish i had taken pics of the one quartering away.Entrance was in front of left hip.Coming out it busted the right shoulder.Thats a pass through the long way.

Give credit to Axis and Muzzys.Heavy slim arrows with fixed blades.The way to go.
 
I know stick, and thus I am very certain this is a good bit faster than the 287 ASA max.

When I shot lots of ASA tournaments if you knew your group was close to the max then you could guage distance by time to target pretty close. This bow is way faster than my ProTech that was shooting 285-286.
 
Bowguy...what is your bow and draw length? Anybody shooting a "heavy arrow" 310 fps out of a 60# lb bow is almost unheard of. How many grains is the arrow?
 
Not unheard of. It depends on what you call "heavy". My Evo at 57 lbs and 28" draw was shooting a 386 grain arrow at 314 fps thru a Pro Chrony with indoor lighting kit. I was having to shoot in excess of 400 grains to get it ASA legal.

386 grains is what you get with a typical .245 - .246 I.D. carbon shaft weighing 8.5 GPI and a 100 grn tip...basically a common hunting setup.

My 82nd Airborne was also skootin' along when I shot several diff arrow weights through it yesterday. On 55# and 28" draw it was 281 fps with a 410 grain arrow.
 
I have an Elite Answer and it's the quietest bow I've ever shot. Had a Bear Carnage last year, which was the fastest bow I've ever had (little faster than the Answer). Sticking with the Answer, so I guess I choose quiet!!
