My 9 year old son and I went squirrel hunting at my dad's farm this morning. I told him that hunting with a .22 was a whole different ballgame than the 20 guage he used last year. It started off fast and feriuos with squirrels cutting hickories like crazy. I had 8 on the stick by 7:00. The deal was he was to take the easy shots and i would kill the challenging shots. He was too slow getting zeroed in at first and never pulled the trigger until after I had already had killed a limit. I was proud of him for staying patient and not getting discouraged. Around 8:15, he finally squeezed the trigger and the small male gray squirrel fell to the forest floor with a dull thud. He was grinning ear to ear, and so was I. I have never known a 9 year old boy to kill a squirrel with a .22 rifle. It was a rewarding moment for him, and could not have been prouder of him!!

There were nine males and two females. Nine cutters and two travelers.
