when should i plant soybeans in the fall in west tennessee. also, can i expect them to last through the deer season if they aren't eaten up too quick?

Why wait til fall? Soybeans are a summer annual, which can be planted in may.

Soybeans will die when the frost starts in fall.

If he planted in the fall i don't think it would allow enough time to produce the pods.

That is correct. Soybeans are group #s which determine when to plant. None of them should be planted after late July. The lower the group # the earlier they need to be planted. For a food plot you can plant a high group # early and it will get tall but will get down bad. Low group # will not make a good food plot. Do you know the variety and # of the beans? Also if they were from last year and not kept frozen just through them away. Beans do not store good.

Actually, the roundup ready soybeans will be higher...around $45 per bag according to my sources.

Really! I read a couple of articles on it last week saying that the prices would be down this year. Hope I'm right and your wrong,LOL! Maybe soybean man could give us some insight.

Your right Country1. I checked with the local Co-op and they priced it to me at $43 to $45.

I paid any where from $35 to $42 for mine. You have to remember last years grain prices controls this years seed prices to some extent. Grain prices are down now but seed prices wont drop till next year. The seed you buy now were grown under the high prices of last year. Most farmers have already bought their seed for this year. If they drop the price now there will but a bunch of mad farmers because when they buy early they are promised that is the lowest price and that the discounts will drop the later it gets.
