I'm a lefty and I had a Mossberg 500 but it just didnt suit me - I can shoot a right handed gun fine but i did like the top tang safety. I'm looking for another pump action. I don't have a preference on brand, but a 26 or 28 inch barrel, 20 or 12 gauge with a 3 or 3.5 inch chamber would be best, all-purpose field. Could y'all share experiences with products and such? I'm not looking to spend more than $300 new or used, and prefer one with screw-in chokes (quite common nowadays)
 
Remington has made their 870 in LH for many years, but you don't see them for sale very often and they demand a premium price (I doubt you will find even a very well used one for $300). A couple of other options would be an Ithaca Model 37 or Browning BPS, which are bottom eject pumps but the BPS has a tang safety. You might find a used Ithaca for around $300, but I doubt you will find a BPS for that. The Ithaca will have a fixed choke unless a polychoke was installed sometime by the previous owner but it does have a trigger guard safety.

If you aren't bothered by the right hand ejection, there are other options out there like a Savage Model 320 that you could probably find in your price range.
 
i am a lefty and have never owned a lefthanded gun until i bought my BAR. i have several 870's . you can't beat em.
 
You should be able to find a bps stalker for around your price used. I like the bps guns, I like the new turkey model 870s now but I like the tang safety
 
Woodchuck summed it up. There are two bottom eject pump guns commonly available. I personally love the Ithaca 37 for it's light weight but it does have a trigger guard safety thatis oriented for right handed shooters.

The Browning BPS is truly left handed in every way with it's tang safety.

The Browning is more versatile in that they are all 3" chambers while most Ithacas are 2 3/4". Lots of Ithacas won't have the screw in chokes either - probably the vast majority won't.

$300 doesn't seem to go far today for guns but you may get lucky??
