South Cherokee WMA

Why do they not allow hogs to be taken during Small game and turkey season on South Cherokee WMA,they claim they are not game animal,also how much is the fine for killing one during this time.

i would suspect that it might have to do with ammunition normally used for those species might be marginal or inadequate to cleanly kill hogs at other than very short range. and they aren't gonna let folks carry slugs "just in case".

Right across the state line in Georgia they are legal to take during any hunting season. That's the reason I bought a 22 magnum

I wouldn't recommend it because it could create a barrel obstruction but it basically turns a shot shell into a slug by cutting the hull "almost" into the wad, therefore sending the load without spreading IF it makes out of the barrel. Good way to remove your face or hand!

Yeah that never crossed my mind. I squirrel hunt with a 22 magnum in the national forest just in case.
