My son punched his first buck tag of the year this morning. He killed a doe opening day of muzzleloader, but a good buck has eluded him. We got busted by a buck this morning early htat he may have shot but couldn't tell. We then sat until about 9:50 without seeing a deer. We were gonna get down at 10 for Thanksgiving dinner. I thought I heard something above us about 9:45 and decided to can call and grunt. After a few minutes, I thought I heard it again. I turned all the way around to look over my right shoulder and nothing. He was to my left so I leaned out to see around him to my left, and there was a buck at 40 yds and closing. He started to circle around us so I told my son to stand up and shoot him behind us. He jumped up and turned around too far. The buck was at 25 yds then and seen him. He ran out to about 40 and made the mistake of stopping. My son shot, and he dropped in his tracks. There was quite a bit of excitement then. It takes a load of pressure off me to put him on a good buck. Thank you Lord and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
