My son killed his first deer last year and I wanted him to get his first muzzleloader deer this year. We went to Rhea county with my brother, nephew, & some college buddies this past weekend. Well right at dark this doe made her way to about 60 yards and he let the smoke roll from my Encore. She dropped but then jumped up and made it to the woods. I thought I heard her crash so we walked over and found her piled up about 20 or 30 yards inside the woodline. Biggest dang doe I've ever seen. She field dressed 117 lbs. He was concerned about the recoil and I told him it wouldn't be any different than his .243. After the shot he turned to give me a high five and said you were right, it's not much different. Another deer came out and I reloaded hoping for us to double up but wasn't 100% sure it wasn't a small buck so I didn't take the shot.
