My son got drawn for a youth hunt this weekend where they wanted some does killed which is right down his alley. We decided to rent a cabin close by and had a blast grilling and hanging out. He killed a doe yesterday morning and another doe and antlerless buck this weekend. My cousin came and stayed with us well and took a doe on another farm close by. It was just an all around great weekend for all involved.

I am so blessed and thank the Lord that I have a son that loves to do what I love to do. That makes deer #5 this year.

You are quite blessed. I finally got my 13yr old boy to try deer hunting so I took him out for the youth hunt. He made a great shot on a 3pt & was shaking from the adrenaline. He posed for the pic, took all kinds of his own pics, texted every friend he has plus grandparents. He enjoyed the field dressing, dragging, butchering, everything. But once we were done, he has no more interest in going again. Said he enjoyed it but it wasn't anything he really wanted to do again. He'd done it and that was enough. Man I was deflated like a burst balloon. But what can I do? He absolutely loves dove hunting so I guess I got that. I'd love it if he were my deer hunting partner, but it doesn't seem that's ever going to happen. Be thankful.
