I live close to Gooch, it has more then 10% corn, it has a good amount of food that will be ready for duck season.

IMO with the exception of opening day, places that get little to no rest from hunting pressure (I.e Gooch), the food means nothing. Makes people feel good and it certainly helps pre-season and post-season but not for killing ducks.

I've hunted 50+ days a year out of the best blinds down there and you rarely run a considerable amount of ducks up out of the feed when you arrive. I would rather have a disked field to ensure a good ripple and less ice myself. 95% of the ducks your gonna kill have never ate or even sat in the hole your killing them in.

Food is for places that get rested, feeding ducks in the moonlight, or for a good shoot or two in a gar hole.

And I, for one, am not upset about limited corn plantings on refuges. Having refuges is important, but if a duck has to fly around to look for food occasionally, or even resorts to eating an acorn in the river bottoms from time to time, that's good by me.

You nailed it!! Convincing people That this is the case is nearly impossible.

Maybe they'll spend more time flying around the public lands scrounging for food this year, instead of hanging out at the corn-trough refuges and sanctuaries
