Got my sample results back this week.It calls for 4 tons of lime per acre (ph was 4.6). For the nitrogen/phosphate/potash it says to add 90/100/100 pounds per acre.Would 10 bags of 10-10-10 per acre do that? Hope this ain't to stupid of a question...but I ain't got a clue when it comes to farming.

Just kidding, I know the PH factor in soil is very important to a
good food plot. Although, some of the most nutritious deer foods
florish in natural (unattended) soil. BSK had a post awhile back,
stating that "summer weeds" were some of the most nutritious food
available to deer. I learned that rag weed was very good. I never
knew that.
 
The land owner we lease from is going to have the areas limed. It's up to us to put down anything else a food plot might need.If we do it right,by fall we ought to be able to grow just about anything.

I think that the number on a bag of fertilizer represent the percentage of that nutrient that is in the bag. For example, 10% of a 50 lb. bag is 5 lbs (for 10-10-10). 100 lbs would equate to 20 50 lb. bags of 10-10-10 then.
 
Ridgerunner, those 3 numbers on the bag (N,P,K) represent the lbs. of each nutrient per hundred weight. So, for a 50lb. bag of 10-10-10, you will have 5 lbs. of N,P,K.

So to answer your question, you are only applying 1/2 the recommended amount of fertilizer if you buy 10 bags (500 lbs.).

On a side note, I would not apply any fertilizer at this time, since the pH is so low. You'll be wasting your money. Give the lime enough time (6 months or so) to correct pH levels.
