I would like to know of your experiences soaking seeds before planting to get them to come up sooner and to have more come up. I'm still doing some planting of seeds here but have most done.
I tried soaking some radish seeds and exactly None!! came up. I am having good luck from my other radishes, have picked 16 so far fm my small raised beds. I plant them around squash and tomatoes which will mature long after the radishes are gone.
Also, I plant my radishes with about a week between plantings.

At one time I soaked my okra seeds overnight in water to supposedly help them germinate faster. I guess it worked but I no longer soak them and they always sprout just fine.
IMO as long as their is enough moisture in the soil at the time of planting or if it rains on the seed shortly after they are planted soaking in water is not required.
Never tried "soaking" for radishes. Around here they [radishes] are very easy to grow without any help.
 
The only thing I soak is okra seeds and that is just if the ground is really dry like it has been this year. I have never done that with any other seeds. But it dose seem to help with the okra.
 
I've had the same experience as bigtex and Dodge Man. Okra is the only one that is supposed to benefit as far as I know. I've done it before and soaked with a little dishwashing liquid to reduce the surface tension of the water a little.

I guess it worked, but I've never had problems with it germinating without the water.
 
Old timer down the road soaks his okra seeds in a bleach water solution. Sounds wacky but his okra is waist high.

My aunt gave me a bunch of seeds and told me to soak them in 1/2 water 1/2 bleach mix.

I did one row like this and one row without to see - and it did make a difference.

I only soaked for 2 days.
 
None of the soaked seeds sprouted. I replanted and some of the "same" seeds have sprouted. Wonder how long can I keep planting radishes and still have them develop? Thanks Ray
