It is in a "protected" area.
I remain somewhat surprised he hasn't been poached, but then, that buck is so recognizable, makes it very likely the poacher would be caught.

Wow! Wow! I agree that if he were poached they'd be caught. They'd have to show or tell someone. That's not just a poacher mentality...we're all like that. How many people (including all ethical, legal hunters) would actually shoot a deer and either save the rack or have it mounted to never show or tell the story?

You should say he is in an area that will be hunted by a select few, breaking many rules and regs as they do it without any consequence..... This deer, if legit and I believe it is, is in a non-hunting area. However when the "special hunts" are allowed they are for ANTLERLESS deer only..SUPPOSEDLY!!

Now we all know how special 36 and 39 are and that the vast majority of hunters will never be lucky enough to get them, but this deer isn't even close to those areas....

I would say there's a fair chance he'll get killed by a human this fall.
It's possible that could be "legal", but also possible he'll be killed illegally and the shooter's story will be one to convince it was done legally. Whoever kills it, if done legally, may have a hard time convincing the rest it was a legal kill.

I'm sure there are many humans scheming for a way to get him.

This could be a wonderful opportunity for the controlling factions to raise lots of money for some very worthwhile cause.
They COULD set up a one-time hunt where this buck resides, allowing a single hunter the full opportunity. Basically sell lottery tickets for the chance to be that lucky hunter. Also, the hunt could be specifically for this buck only, or any deer.

There are all kinds of novel ways this could be construed, including multiple hunts, each a 3-day weekend hunt, one (or two) per ticket for each weekend. Odds are high the 1st lucky hunter(s) would fail to get him, but even if they did, it would be a fantastic opportunity for others in the subsequent weekend(s) since this isn't the only outstanding buck in that area.

The only way I think this would be somewhat a mistake would be to allow multiple hunters in the area simultaneously, with exception to the idea of 2 hunters per ticket (one winning ticket per hunt) where the winning hunter could simply choose a friend to hunt with him (or not). I could see a guy getting drawn and wanting to take his son, or his father, or his brother.

There are many deer like this(maybe not as big but still 150+) in non hunting areas on Fort Campbell. Is this the "Trophy hunters want to take everything regardless!!!"? Anyone remember the Wallace poachers? lol, get over it, this deer is off limits, let him do his thing and die on non hunting terms.

Kinda what I was thinking, I know the fort is a large area but that buck could mess up and leave the area he is in. I would like to just see a buck that big in real life even if its out of the vehicle window with binos.

Good luck. To hunt an area where you knew a buck like that resided would fire up almost anyone. I know nothing of that place but I doubt that Fort Campbell is going to go against the grain and provide that opportunity in an area typically closed to hunting.
