Stevens 325B bolt action .30-30. For $219 how could I not buy something as old as this and in as good shape. Mighty rare from what I understand. I've always known of them but never seen one but always wanted one.
So I stumbled upon this gem at cabelas

I guess you gonna have to change yore handle to 30-30 Stevens. Nice gun.

i had one that was like new and i sold it, regretted it ever since.they made a scope mount for it too.

My 1st deer rifle was a Springfield model 840 which, like yours, was chambered for the 30-30. It's a cheaper version of the more common Savage model 340, which oddly enough was a base level rifle. 
I still have it and it looks very much like yours. I paid $60 for it back in 1976 or 77 at Ray Judge's Gun Shop near Winchester, TN. It was marked for $65 and they said they'd take $60. I only had $58.50 so had to get my Mother to give me $1.50 to seal the deal. :shock:
A bolt action gives you a lot of leeway to do things with the 30-30 that you can't do in a lever action. For example you can go with the "single shot pistol" 125 or 130 grain .308 spitzer bullets for better down range energy. I shot mine a lot using max loads with the Speer 110 grain flatnose hollow point and the 100 grain half jacketed round nose - both intended for groundhogs rather than deer of course.
There was a side scope mount available. I have one on both my rifles (I have one in 22 Hornet also). The older gun required removing some stock wood to install the mount. This wasn't necessary for the newer rifle(1984).

That's a good price, Mr. Big! 444 Marlin will be set up well with that. 
I would love to have a bolt action 30-30, man, I'd like to load up some medicine for that.

SgtWebb, this is your lucky day........ Your comment reminded me that the Remington 788 was once chambered for 30-30. I went to Gunbroker.com on the off chance that one would be for sale there. To my surprise there is one. The ad has pictures of a Weatherby Vanguard also so scroll down about half way through the pictures to see the 788.

One of the rifles I learned to shoot an reload for,was the sears version of the 340 Savage. Uncle sold it to a friend who we reckon still owns n hunts with it. The only promblem with loading spt in them is the magazine. Shot a bunch of Speer 130 in the one we had. I missed that ol toy so much I looked for another one n walked in to a Rem.788 got it instead
