Well I have been pooped on !

Here is the set up. Farm road going East/West gets run by yotes and the love to poop on it to mark it.

I found a spot where they had been pooping near the last post in a fence row. So I put in a foot hold and used that final post as a scent post. Put a little poly fill on a nail and hit it with fox pee. Nothing for three days but this morning there was a poop about 2 feet away from the trap !!!
Near as I can tell, the yote didn't hike his leg to pee on the polyfill so he was about 24" away from the trap and stayed in the tire rut of the road.

I put a little fresh fox pee on the poly fill along with a drop or three of beaver castor. Then I scattered some hay around and left a pile between his poop and the trap. If Yote wants to go sniff the lure, he should walk between the hay and the post ..... right into my trap.

At least thats the plan.... we shall see if he wants to play. The game is afoot ! :tu:

Its differently harder this year for me to catch yotes, last year everything I set would connect, this year is slow, and I have mostly caught year olds also. Hang in there, after this weather I may get serious and get after them for a week or two. Its getting personal now. lol

I've had them dig me up and crap on my trap. Makes me laugh and want to cry at the same time. I'd love to have one hump up and take a dump on the pan and it grab him by the balls.

Well the "Lazy" method isn't working. Got to track where the yotes ran through the snow last night and I am off location on MOST of my yote sets.
Found our missing chicken half eaten by the barn 300 yds from the chicken coop with yote tracks around it. Then I found FRESH yote tracks and territory markings in the snow around the chicken coop.

So, I put a snare hanging off the corner of a fenced paddock where the yotes have been traveling and cutting that corner. Added a little hunk of dead chicken to the scent post set they walked right by and ignored. Found where the yote crosses under the fence by the chicken coop and added a snare there.

I need to pull all the rest of my yote snare locations since they havent produced in 2 weeks + and move them to hotter travel routes.
Got to see two beautiful fat fuzzy does standing in the snow this morning !

The only thing I like about snow is that it shows you where the animals travel. Once you see the tracks in the snow it all makes sense or at least it does to me.

So the yotes stole my chicken chunk without setting the trap off (frozen down I suspect). Going back out this afternoon to remake that set and put several more in.

Learned something awesome from the snow. If there is a log road, they tend to follow the tracks. (good place for a snare if you have any tall weeds to help blend it in) I found in several places in the pasture where the yotes ran parallel to the fence about 10-12" from the fence. BING! light went off in my thick noggin. That would be an awesome place for a snare ! No bait needed, no reason to try and entice them to go there. NO strange smells to attract deer, varmints, or cattle to mess up the set.

Im out of snare supports so Ill try and whip up a few this afternoon/evening and get some more sets out.
The yotes were going insane last night and harassing the cows so they have GOT to GO!
