SEC took a beating.

Nil question, So will schools in states with big money have the big NIL deals and be the power houses? For instance will Texas schools lead the NIL deals with oil money?

One would think so.

I've been reading a thread on a TN forum that seems to indicate that many of the TN NIL $ providers are millionaires, as opposed to billionaires of some other schools, and that they are not happy with blowing $$$ on unproductive players and are threatening to withhold future funding.

The old days are over. So, we either accept it for what it is, or we find something else to do with our time.

The Barry Switzer Oklahoma days? Nebraska with their skirting the rules to stockpile players, The Bear and Saban (cough, cough), Jimmy Johnson in Miami, on and on! It's just out in the open now.

I hate the current state of the game, BUT I do think that the players were getting shafted by not being able to get paid while the schools were lining their pockets on their backs.

Standout players and their families were definitely getting perks back then but that era and type of campus/team culture has been destroyed by the NIL. In my opinion, any player getting NIL money should forfeit any/all scholarship funds and any other 'free' assistance they're getting and pay their own way. There should be contracts limiting portal access. And coaches need to be prohibited from going to another team before the end of season, including bowl season.

Nail on the head,its terrible what is taking place in college football!!
 
SEC took a beating? In what bowl games? Playoffs? It is hard to go by bowl nowadays games as now so many players opt out it's hard to tell anything about the teams involved . 5 SEC teams got in the playoffs more than any other conference , first round two played each other, second round two more had to play each other, the SEC eliminated each other in those situations. I am guessing if Georgia, Alabama, Texas AM or Oklahoma got to play James Madison and Texas Tech ( probably the worst two teams in it) like Oregon each one of them would still be alive just like Big 10 Oregon. The playoffs are all about your bracket and match ups .Big 10 Ohio State got man handled by a Miami team that beat SEC Texas AM 10 to 3 and Texas AM threw in the end zone at the end with a chance to tie the game . Indiana did absolutely drill Alabama ( only Big 10/SEC matchup)who had more losses than any team in the playoffs. I hope Big 10 Indiana wins versus Oregon and make it to the Championship, don't care what conference they are in, Indiana is a great story ,has a good team and really could be a movie as Cignetti says , especially if they win it all. Would you rather be Ole Miss playing Miami or Indiana playing Oregon to get to the Championship? The big 10 is a really good conference however, I still think top to bottom the SEC has more good teams overall than the Big 10 which got 3 teams in the playoffs . That is just my opinion,.I am sure others would absolutely disagree.
 
I think all teams had opt outs to some degree. SEC got took to the woodshed this year in bowl games. Years to come in the NIL/portal era all teams/conferences will have to figure out getting back to being stable or there will be lots of flashes in the pan and Cinderella(s).
