Any suggestions appreciated. I remember when I was a little kid dad cooking them but I don't know how he did it.

i always made turtle soup made like a cajun gumbo like mawmaw made, but you can cook it about any way you would chicken. the trick is cleaning one because the skin is laced with all kinds of nasty bacteria, and if you cut into the guts it will bitter the meat. legs, neck and maybe a little tail meat is all you get. nowadays id rather have a good mess of bullfrogs. easier to clean.

oh yeah make sure its a common and not an alligator snapper.

Find a high quality slab of cherry wood. Place turtle on wood and grill on low heat for 5 hours. Slide turtle off board and eat the board.

Lol I don't know q good way to cook em, never tried, don't really want to though. Supposedly you have to purge them in several changes of fresh water before killing them
