i just use the backwoods seasoning kits plus a little coarse ground red pepper. shoot em out my jerky cannon using the round attachment. makes 5 inch sticks. they come out perfect
Just replenished my stock from BPS in memphis. They have a box with 4 or 5 different tasting mixes and the price was very good.
You ever notice the Backwoods stuff that helps preserve the meat has a nasty taste? You have to mix it exactly or the results are not good at all. I found it very difficult to get that material properly mixed. My scale broke so I was guesstimating meat weight and I guess I failed because the results were barely edible.
I have the Open Country dehydrator and related tools and am a very satisifed customer. FYI, while debating what to buy I picked up and read the Backwoods package and noticed the contents had solidified into a solid mass, no longer granular.

I must apologize, I had HiMountain and Backwoods mixed up. I have not tried Backwoods, jeez, sorry. HI Mountain is what I had trouble with, I think has a bad taste, and was solidified at BPS Memphis.
