If you're hunting mostly woods, I would definitely go the 45/70 route. They will still shoot a good distance as well. My brother in law had a Savage but switched to a 45/70 conversion after seeing how light and easy to maneuver that mine was.I'd like to know as well. May have to ship it to someone to do it. I'm thinking about going the 45-70 route
