Smokeless build

When doing a smokeless build on a Remington is it easier to use a centerfire action or one from a Remington ML or is it required that you use one or the other. Also, I currently have a Encore ML; is that an easier route to go? Just buy a barrel from SMI or convert a 45-70 barrel? I hear there can be issues with 45-70 barrels having too large of a diameter to shoot without knurling the bullets. Sorry for all the questions but wanting to know which direction everyone recommends going?

It's cheaper to do it off a 45-70 conversion. Buying an Encore barrel from SMI will give you a Douglas 50 cal barrel which is great as long as you want a 50 cal and not a 45. Just depends on what you intend to do with it.

Both a Remington CF action or a ML action can be used for the build but generally they are built off a ML action. Knurling isn't that big of a deal and could still be necessary with any smokeless ML you build. None of these guns are generally plug and chug setups. You gotta tinker with them a little.

I have several guns that require knurling, and others that just are way more accurate with knurling even using BH209. Knurling is easy.
