I'm looking for input on building a lightweight smokeless. Id love to build something sub 6-7 lbs, and shoot relatively light .45 bullets, or even .40 or smaller if they are available.

This will not be a bean field rifle, a 150 yard shot would be a long one. Just a handy, accurate one-shooter with better ballistics.

Any ideas?

I've had both & the encore with a blued barrel is half the weight of my cva's. 280longshot has one now & could add his thoughts but that's as lights weight as your gonna get for a sml.
 
Yes 45-70. You can have it converted at SMI or like most have done including myself send it to Slufoot to convert. He will install the savage breech plug. Then you are good to go.

Yes the Encore is light, actuallly I love the weight.
Tuesday I shot a doe and never even noticed the recoil at all.
Bench shooting is a different story!!!
