You Model 41 owners, or those wanting one, might like to know…

I got an email from S&W today that this is the last chance to buy a Model 41. They are implying they are going to discontinue them and have MSRP at $2200 to $2500. I think the last time I looked at them, MSRP (A year or two) was around $1200??

A new Model 41 right now is $1605 and in stock at Grab a Gun. There are 400 used for sale on GunBroker. As soon as this email circulates, I doubt there will be any available anywhere at anywhere near the prices they are now.
 
Can't remember what I paid back in the 70s but I'm sure I thought it was high as a cat's back. 5 years ago, a good used one would go for $1000-1200. New ones of recent manufacture came through their custom shop, hence the higher prices.

I'm a S&W FanBoy. I've been buying Smith & Wesson's for over 45 years and will continue to do so; they have a great product. But when I got a lemon; CS was useless.

My gun was supposed to be a "Performance Center" gun. If it was even in the Performance Center; I don't believe it never got off the cart. I think marketing is playing fast & loose with the PC name; and I don't want to pay extra for something I'm not getting.

I have or have had in addition to a bunch of S&W revolvers, several M&P's, all in .40S&W. When I wanted a dedicated target gun, I opted for the Performance Center M&P9L C.O.R.E.

It's the worst M&P I've ever had. I had to replace the trigger with an Apex to make it usable as a target gun. First time I've ever had to put an aftermarket trigger on any handgun.

Even after I wrote to the President and the Firearms Director, and was contacted by a CS person that told me he was told by the Firearms Director to fix my problem; he showed me who was in charge of CS, and it wasn't the Firearms Director. ;)
 
I've shot against a few 41's in our old pistol contests. They always shot well. I hate to see them go away.
