Smith and Wesson Model 1000

I have had this gun for about internet. 12ga 26" improved cylinder. Is there a way to find manufacturer year for it? I think it is around 1980 but was trying to find out. I haven't had any luck searching the interweb. I haven't shot it in about 15 or so years.
My brother in law has one in 20 GA also.

I am thinking about getting 20ga semiautomatic Remington,Browning or possibly Stoeger.
Thinking about may be selling or trading this one along with a Fox-Savage Model B 16ga SxS..

I bought a new one in 1978 I think it was

It was manufactured in Japan by Howa Machinery if that helps you in your search. It's listed in my Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, but it has no serial number info on them. You might be able to email the serial number to S&W to find out the year.
