There is a proposal that TWRA is going to make the open dates between deer seasons Archery Deer Season. I think this is a big mistake. It is once again taking away small game hunters. I love the open weekends cause I can go on public land with out the fear of running my squirrel dogs in the woods and being shot. Please email [email protected]; [email protected] and tell them you are not in favor because those weekends are meant for the small game hunters (squirrel, rabbit, grouse) with dogs.

Please help!!!!

Actually those dates are NOT set aside for small game hunters. It was my understanding from explanation by TWRA those current closed dates were set to ease the harvest of deer in Unit B.


When the population numbers of DEER wasnt as high as they are now!

As mentioned previously... there are dates set FOR small game hunters...and one is open now, as well as being open the entire duration of deer season, with an additional 7 weeks after deer season has been closed!

Im 100% for the Archery to be opened as well! I hunt small game with my boys but feel like the season is fine as is!

Agree. I hunt with several youths throughout the year. Small game is the easiest to start youth on, and enjoy the time and opportunity to get them in the outdoors. I strongly feel that this early season we are in now, along with the 6 month + season in the fall is well beyond enough opportunity for small game hunters to enjoy time afield.

Not a myth in any state I know of. I know of dozens of dogs that have been shot and the vast majority on public land or by tresspassers.

Luckily, I haven't had to send a family a dead family member yet. I have always and will always consider anyone that shoots my dogs as someone who is threatening my life as well. Not an excuse but it's reality.

Everyone in my neck of the woods knows this and therefore I have no problems. :D

Deer hunters (not near all but a bunch of them) are about the most greedy, selfish and ignorant bunch of folks I know of. Yes, I'm a serious deer hunter but I'm not in that catagory. :D
 
i agree swamper i live in unit b and have had dog shot on wma while rabbit hunting didnt find who done but i still go when i want dont care if deer season is open or not cuff i sent letters in i've said this before it wont be the anti that stop the hunting it will be the deer hunter duck hunter and turkey they will get all the small game hunters pushed out and when that happens the anti will gain alot more support thus stopping the other hunters remember greed kills and another misconception rabbit beagles and bird dogs run deer off i've heard that a million times as to the reason they dont like you running dogs and that is just an uneducated statement remember we are all on the same side please for the sake of the next hunting generation
