I have had a great weekend but honestly have not seen the "rutting" activity I normally see on my place this time of year.
Seeing several bucks cruising and still grouped up and seen the first chase right at dark this evening.
Nephew shot a 9 pt yesterday evening right at sunset and we could not find the first drop of blood, he was a little upset as this was his first lost deer. I assured him this probably wouldn't be his last but I hope it was ! I found him when I came out at 12:30 today but was to late......yotes and buzzards beat me but I honestly didn't think I would find him after the 3 hour search last night, the buzzards led me to him.

38 sightings yesterday, lost count on specific buck/doe/yearlings but it was 6 different 8 pts (100"-125") majority buck sightings, no chasing, all day sit.

29 sightings today with half of them being bucks, all small.
Only 1 chasing rite at dark.

I did manage to kill 2 yotes and that made it even more enjoyable, I killed these on the opposite side of the farm. The first dog (female) was actually chasing a doe and her two fawns.

After shooting and sitting for another 45 minutes at 11:15 I decided to get down and move. I drug her out and made my move to a spot I hunt off the ground from in some really thick undergrowth. I moved a good 1/4 mile and walked in and got set up, hadn't been there five minutes when a yote howled and next thing I know here he comes ! He walked within 8 yards of me on the ground and never knew I existed.....I shot and down he went but he was so close I almost missed him ! Broke him down in his front end but he could still get around and had me worried !! He knew I was there then and I couldn't get reloaded fast enough...I held my ground and he finally laid there still and bled out. Big male that stank outta this world.

I have until Thursday before I head back to Mo, would like to kill some does but until I start seeing more mature does I am not sure if I should, a mature buck would be great as well !
Good luck and thanks for reading, sorry for the long post :)

Glad you found the deer. Looks like the cape may be salvageable? I bet Your nephew was happy you found him!! Very nice deer!!

Nice buck what is left. Euro mount it.
Makes you wonder what would happen to us if we broke a leg and couldn't crawl out.... Guess that's why I carry a pistol too. It always amazes me how the yotes and buzzards will clean a deer up in such a short time.
I hope you get that buck you are after!
