What slug gun would you buy if money was not a factor ?

Tarhunt or the Browning A-bolt slug gun that they don't make anymore. The Browning would actually cost you more.

For an inexspensive slug gun, I've been happy with my bolt action Savage 210.

Another vote for TARHUNT, they are an amazing piece of craftmanship.(For a slug gun).

TarHunt - i have heard good things
Mossberg 695 bolt action - I have one and it is a tack driver at 150 yrds with SST Slugs. No longer made. I gave $190 for mine and wuld do it again in a heartbeat.
Marlin SlugMaster - i have also heard good things. No longer made. Call some gun shops, pawn shops

What slug gun would you buy if money was not a factor ?

I shoot a Benelli Super Black Eagle II,and IMO it's the best semi auto sold.
I beleive they make a slug barrel for it also.

tarhunt if money was not a factor i beleive right around 1200 dollars

h&r ultra slug hunter 12 or 20 gauge under 230 dollars new
slap a 200 dollar scope on it lupy vx 1 with wide duplex reticle
hornady sst slugs or hastings lasar accurate slugs
3 boxes of either under 30 dollars total

I second the motion....................

I own an H&R in 12ga., It groups very well out to 150 yds with the Remington solid copper sabots.

I would rate them in this order if price were not an option. Although they are the most accurate, I personally would rate the single shot shotguns lower because I feel more comfortable knowing I have a follow up.

1. Tar Hunt
2. Browning A-Bolt
3. Savage 210
4. Hastings Custom Chambered Slug Shotgun (20ga 3 1/2" chamber)
5. H&R Ultra Slug Hunter in 20ga.

My vote is for the Savage 210f. Get you the rifle basix trigger and limbsaver recoil pad. Top it off with a good scope. Try the Winchester Partition golds and you want go wrong!

You've obviously never seen what a 1 ounce slug will do to a 200+ lb animal at 50 yards. If you hit them in the chest, there is a 1 inch diameter entrance wound and no exit wound. You just find little pieces of lead through out the body cavity. Its a beautiful thing. I shot a 12 pt and I couldn't find the heart.

Absolutely- I've killed a lot of big deer in Minnesota with a 12 guage slug. Farthest was 125 yards (I have a BPS and a Hastings rifled barrel- shoots 1.5 inch groups @100 yards with the Federal Premium Barnes Sabots) and the deer took no more than 3 steps.

The 12 guage slug hits about as hard as a 300 magnum at 50 yards. They're tough to beat- I use mine a lot here in Tn if I'm hunting thickets in the evening. You will not have to look much for a blood trail.
